A poem on the division of people in the UK

The Elite flies fast in helicopters
across the busy city of London;
in the streets below, the peasants are
labouring, earning pittance for their rents:
The landlord will be calling soon
to collect the arrears.

At the dinner table, full of food and riches,
laden with delicatessen and fine wines
at the property developers’ homes.
But for others it is the past sell-by date isle
in the local supermarket, trying to save
the few pennies.

The politicians appease the masses with
populist policies and assure us all
that we caused the debt and owe.
But it is the rich that benefit, where
the poor have to pay up:
Victoriana has returned!

Boris does it again...

Boris, the London Conservative, has done it again:
His new bubble buses don't work as promised,
since the doors stay shut:
This BBC report shows Route 38
and he approves demolishing an iconic site,
the Earl's Court Exhibition Centre :
Demolition of Earls Court approved

This mayor is a night-mare.
This mayor must not get a third term!
Remember his gaffes! Remember his antics
on the Andrew Marr show, when he revealed
his REAL face:
Andrew Marr Show, interview by Eddie Mair

and his embarrassing gaffes keep on coming as this

sexist remark about women in Malaysia.

Naked Man in Whitehall shows us humanity

A pic I found - how could he have been dangerous? - It is pure humanist art!
I was actually witnessing it as it happened: On approaching from Trafalgar Square, we initially walked freely. We stood close to the statue and the man who then started to take off his last remaining item of clothing (black underpants) the Police started to FORCE the spectators back, although the naked man was evidently unarmed and harmless. The Police were barking out orders to move on and that we had no business here. Mounted Police were also "driving" the spectators back. Very nasty experience, when we were watching a defenceless, naked man. The cordon was driven further and further back, to all of Whitehall. All the naked man did was, to actually make us laugh in appreciation and show that there is life in Cameron's corporate lands: Government cuts are destroying all "lifeblood", and to see this was reminder for both "humanity" (the climber) and seeing that we live in a State of fear and private capital corporatism. Thank you for a day with a difference.

And look at the law! Awful!

cycling in London compared to Berlin

Cycling in London is dangerous, as there are not many cycle lanes throughout the capital that are safe to use:
Cycle paths either appear suddenly and end as sudden as they appear, or they are next to parking bays for cars, leaving cyclists exposed to opening car doors across the cycle paths, or cyclists have to content with motorbikes, taxies and buses in bus lanes where -at junctions- there is a sudden left turn for cars / vans, and they veer off into the (previously safe-ish) bus/cycle lane to turn. I have seen cycle paths outside London that end to cross a busy, multi lane 'A' road with no traffic signals to protect the cyclist.  As a cyclist myself, I find it criminal that people like Cameron and Johnson harp on about the need to create and promote growth/business at all cost, detrimental to both environment and social responsibility, rather than looking at real people and cycling is one of them.

Power-assisted steering, the use of mobile phones whilst driving and sat navs have created new careless drivers.

In more aware countries, like the Netherlands and Germany, cycling is promoted, encouraged and nurtured.  Hopefully with news like the BBC  attitudes will change in London (the UK?)

At last - something nice!

Great stuff from the creator of the Angel of the North in London:
Anthony Gormley commissioned the temporary one hour displays
on the 4th plinth at Trafalgar Square. By accident, I was there.
A few pix HERE.
Also some street art in progress:

The end for London..

... Boris is end for a 21st century
London: his transport policy (favouring
only cars!) stinks, so do the exhaust
fumes. Now he's even "bought the

snow in London

thank you, Earth! You are a beauty :-)
the white stuff is surely fun; keep it
coming. Managed to get a nice shot of a
supersprinter ploughing through the elements.

makes you laugh though: they forecast the
event, everyone knew it would be happening:
yet "the surprise" made almost all of the
London Underground and trains suspended or
cancelled. The good old UK. :-)
A little anec-dote from Waterloo this morning:
I arrived and saw loadsa trains but no departure
boards. The station-master (well a portly bloke
with a beard and a badge) stated "stay on the
concourse and wait for announcements, mate,
I don't know what is running, if anything at all"
Spotting a lit train with people on and a green
signal, I thought "well, I hop on, see where it
goes to". And guess what, it got me to work,
just like magick trickery! :-)

The British Summer: in London

THREE days of heat
turn a city of concrete
into a stifling and sizzling
furnace; with people complaining
about the never ending heat!

FOUR days of rain follow
and their comments so hollow:
argue that it does "nothing but rain";
oh dear: What a forgetful brain!

NOW the nights are drawing in
and the shouts do begin:
"double summertime now:
we will never bow
to the constraints of universe!"
"What phallacy", I say: "just live
and enjoy what we are given!"

little poem (down the tube?)

desperately texting on their blackberrys;
as the city lies in ruins:

"Nine lives I had, and all used up" - says
the text...

In posh city suits their pretentious habits
fuelled by the poorest

MAJORITY - You few fat cats, too,
WILL feel the crunch and crash!

London turns bleak

thanks to the new mayor, B johnson, London turns
grey: he cancelled the advanced hydrogen vehicles
and also the pedestrianisation of Parliament Square.
The man is an absolute disaster for London. The BBC
article shows his latest gaffe. This includes, of
more Police to help the rich protecting their fat
cat's property. Hooray for Johnson? May the gods
be merciful
And now he's cancelled the western congestion zone,
just because westminster wants it! The sooner this
disaster on legs goes the better! What a plonker!

London Gay Pride March - no photos

Was me the surprised one, seeing Mr B Johnson
(the new London mare) walking (more like being
propped up / assisted to walk) ahead . Unless he
has got a disability, he looked extremely
uncomfortable and more like as if he was on
tablets; goodness gracious, that sour expression
on his face! Livingstone was at least your dodgy
market trader from next door; just like Sir Allan
both of which have that personal warmth, that
makes you wanna buy anything.
Congrats, by the way, to the Armed Forces
contingent! Well done (and in uniform).
The gutter press obviously disagrees, but they
have been reported to the Press Complaints
and see the other argument here

beautiful (double) rainbow

took a pic of this great rainbow!
The "double" can be seen to the left of the main
one.
